M 5.2 Shakes Lampung No Tsunami Potential

A tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 M rocked the Lampung region at 08.52 WIB, Monday (12/4/2021).
Based on the results of the analysis by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the epicenter of this earthquake is located at coordinates 5.62 LS and 104.55 East Longitude.
The exact location is on land at a distance of 21 kilometers southwest of Kota Agung, Tanggamus Regency, Lampung at a depth of 110 kilometers.
Head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center, Bambang Setiyo Prayitno MSi in his written statement said that by paying attention to the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a medium earthquake due to subduction activity.
"The analysis of the source mechanism shows that the earthquake has a thrust fault mechanism," he said.
